The best news is the Pro7 Surge Arrest has seven plug receptacles it and only lets through 80 volts after clamping a surge. Jules ratings don’t mean much, the only ULstandard for actual surge suppression is UL 1449 and it lets up to 300 volts through, but at least it does stop major surges and will protect your equipment from major over current events, like lighting or a transformer blowing up outside your office. The other thing that we like about this product is that there are indicator lights for wiring faults, and a green light indicates it is still protecting from surges.
These devices do wear out (surge after surge) and diminish it’s capacity to protect, so you must be able to tell when it’s not working.Most any battery backup will work but we like the APC brand. Yes, they do have some built in surge protection, but there is no indicator

You should be able to buy both of these for under a hundred bucks and they should last at least three years. Pro7 Surge Arrest and Back UPS ES 550 are the models that we use most.
