One more thing to harp on...BACKUP YOUR DATA!! There are several good products out there for this task, but the easiest and quickest ones will be the only ones that you will use. So lets look at what you could use.
We don't have any add on program suggestions for backup, but we do suggest that you use the "Send To" command or the Copy and Paste commands to backup to a USB flash drive or USB hard drive.Copy and paste or send the whole "My Documents" or in Vista the "Documents" folder to a flash drive, other external device. Note: if you are using a flash drive alternate between two of them, they are not a real dependable archive device. You can protect them and your data from needless failure if you properly eject before removing them from the USB port. To remove it properly move your cursor over the little icons in the lower right corner of your computer desktop (screen) and you will see a little green arrow as you move your cursor over... it will show that you can "safely remove" the drive. Click this and a window will come up, click stop for the device that is your flash drive, and it should indicate that it is safe to remove.
